Spirituality

What does "Spirituality" Mean?

Ask a dozen people, and you will receive at least a dozen different answers. The answers will very quickly reveal that the worldly view of spirituality is all inclusive. However, the biblical view is specifically exclusive.

Some examples of world-view spirituality include new age , use of crystals and other objects designed to help you focus your 'spiritual energy', astrology, earth worship, witchcraft, humanism and so on. The common link through all of these efforts to arrive at a personally meaningful spiritual experience is the total absence of the Holy Spirit!

There are many 'religious' movements that almost sound credible designed to help one grow in their spiritual life, but which pervert or exclude all together the only God-given spirit, the Holy Spirit.

How do you know what is right and what is truly wrong? According to the Bible in Proverbs 1:7, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Knowledge. Fools despise wisdom and discipline." A thorough familiarity of the Word Of God, the Bible, is the best place to start.

However, there are many supplementary resources that you can draw on to aid in growing your own spiritual life. Prayer is a vital part of any relationship with God, and necessary for your own growth. BUT, prayer to mother earth or some other entity will lead you down a dark path.

In future articles we will explore the false paths and identify online resources for you to use in developing a healthy biblical spiritual life.
